American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.

Job Details

• Med/Surg unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital,

• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15),

• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends,

• Average daily census of 21 patients,

• Every other weekend is required,

• Floating is required to other Med/Surg and like units, including affiliate hospitals nearby,

• Charting is done in Cerner,

• No on-call requirements,

• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction,

• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license currently in hand,

• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required - AHA and Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted,

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required,

• SSN and DOB required for consideration,

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,

• Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler,

• Travel pairs are not accepted,

• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays,

• RTO of 5 days or fewer is generally accommodated; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval,

• Scrub color: any solid color,

• Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation,

• Preferred skills include: telemetry/remote monitoring, rapid response team experience, post-angiogram and post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, heparin/insulin/PCA medication administration, CVA and pre/post neuro-surgical care, ortho trauma, surgical drain management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, wound care/wound VAC, and isolation precautions,

• Cerner experience preferred,

• Level I Trauma experience preferred,

• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
