Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois.
Job SummaryOperating Room Nurse in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves working within an acute care hospital that is a Level I trauma center. The role includes providing specialized surgical nursing care across multiple service lines, with a focus on trauma, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma cases. Candidates are required to bring their active Illinois nursing license on the first day of the assignment.

Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week - Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of operating room nursing experience, Illinois license in hand or in application process, BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred. - Experience:
Experience in trauma (Level I trauma experience required), bariatric cases (laparoscopic assisted), general surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), orthopedics (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reductions), plastics (free flap microvascular), transplant (organ donation), urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries), emergency management (code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia), and equipment/instrumentation (electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables). - Additional Requirements:
Must have current Illinois license or be in application process, active BLS certifications, Cerner experience preferred, and be capable of floating within scope of practice. - On-call:
Yes, approximately once per week, though typically less often. - Special Notes:
Candidates must have at least 18 months of specific unit experience or equivalent and be separated from any permanent or PRN roles for 12 months prior to applying as a traveler. - Hard Stops:
Candidate must meet all specified skills and experience requirements, including trauma, surgery types, emergency protocols, and equipment familiarity. - Other Details:
This role involves working with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV), with interdisciplinary support available. Candidate must complete compliance modules within one week of start. First day of assignment is virtual, with additional modules expected.
