Overview
$10,000 Sign on Bonus RN >1yr 3yr commitment external applicants only.
- Number of beds on unit: 15 units, available to flex up to 20
- Patient population: Medical-surgical, variety of diagnoses. Adult population over 17 years of age. Semi-private rooms.
- Patient- to-Nurse ratio: 1:5-6
- Department culture and resources: Fast paced unit with medically complex patients. Unit relies on strong communication skills between all team members. Supportive teamwork plays huge role in success of care of the patient population and staff satisfaction.
- Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Assessment, medication administration, IV insertion, ADL needs, plum pump, wound vacs, telemetry monitoring, tube feeding pumps, electronic EMR. Basic BLS (within 30 days of hire) and ACLS (within 1 year of hire).
- Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Illinois (IDFPR).
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
- Education: Nursing Diploma.
- Work Experience: RN >1 year.
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care.
- Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care.
- Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures; modifies plan based on continuous evaluation.
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting hazards and incidents.
- Communicates with others directly and in private to resolve issues; offers constructive feedback to peers; confers with colleagues to expand knowledge.
- Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative for solutions.
- Fulfills all departmental competencies.
- Receives patient Bedside Shift Report and updates communication board; delegates care tasks to HCTs and validates completion.
- Completes and documents basic RN patient care activities: assessments, vital sign interpretation, physician order completion, admission/discharge, hourly rounding, care plan documentation, patient education.
- Meets Carle Med/Surg RN documentation standards.
- Provides patient medications utilizing the 5 Rights.
- Maintains patient safety priority: compliance with fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, ambulation safety.
- Maintains a positive attitude promoting a healthy work environment.
- Diligently answers patient call lights to ensure triage and completion of requests.
- Uses critical thinking to evaluate patient condition and act on changes.
- Communicates within the healthcare team to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and patient safety.
- Manages time to enable quick admission/discharge process for Observation status patients and facilitates completion of testing to expedite disposition.
The compensation range for this position is $35.22 per hour - $60.58 per hour.
