Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Medical‑Surgical specialty provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes. The nurse will float within similar units as needed, support emergency response efforts, and utilize clinical skills related to cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, respiratory care, and wound management.
A minimum of one year of Med/Surg experience and active Illinois RN licensure are required.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year medical‑surgical nursing experience.
- BLS certification.
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and emergency response protocols.
- Proficiency in IV therapy, medication administration, and respiratory care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced acute care environment.
- Experience with telemetry and use of rapid response teams.
- Cardiovascular case management skills including post‑angiogram and post‑MI care.
- Endocrine/metabolic case experience, including IV insulin protocols.
- Gastrointestinal management skills such as colostomy and feeding tube care.
- Genitourinary/renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management.
- Neurological/psychiatric case experience including CVA and pre/post neuro surgery.
- Orthopedic trauma and surgical drain experience.
- Wound care and wound vac management expertise.
- Previous charge nurse experience.
- Experience with Cerner electronic health records.
- Level I trauma center experience.
- Will float within scope to other Med Surg and similar units as needed.
- No on‑call requirement.
- Must have an active Illinois RN license; pending licenses are not accepted.
- Parking permit required but no cost for parking.
- Must adhere to facility dress code (any solid color scrub).
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13‑week assignment without pay; on‑call shifts count as called‑off shifts.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days.
- Work schedule consists of three 12‑hour day shifts (0645‑1915) per week.
- Will work every other weekend.
- Block scheduling is typically not permitted but 3 consecutive shifts may be accommodated upon manager approval.
