Metro Infusion Center (affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) is seeking an Infusion?
Registered Nurse
? to work?on a part-time basis at the clinic located in?
Springfield, IL. Ideal candidate will have excellent IV skills (PICC certified preferred, but not required). The position offers the high‑tech infusion nurse the ability to utilize skills in an office setting and competitive pay.
Schedule: 3 days (24 hours)/week; flexible weekdays.
Responsibilities- Insert peripheral lines and teach infusion patients how to self‑administer medications; document in the medical record.
- Maintain proficiency in PICC lines and perform PICC dressing changes.
- Review and chart daily laboratory results, passing information on to physicians and/or patients as needed.
- E‑prescribe new prescriptions and refills on doctor?s order and communicate to pharmacies.
- Receive and return patient and other telephone calls.
- Review EMR charts for next day’s appointments, ordering lab results, consult reports or notes as necessary and document all required fields to be eligible for meaningful use.
- Respond to telephone calls, meet patients in the office on weekends, and schedule patients to come to the office as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested.
- Use clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs and establish priorities.
- Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
- Participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with the facility.
- Arrange for daily coverage with a co‑worker.
- Assist and consult with the physician in the ordering of procedures and diagnostic tests.
- Order laboratory tests for patients per provider?s order or standing order; follow up on abnormal labs and medication refills as instructed.
- Maintain patient records, billing documentation, and all other administrative records, documentation, and correspondence in the practice’s EHR as required.
- Administer immunizations, TB screening, medications, and blood draws consistent with current guidelines and established protocols.
- Support professional practice by observing the following: use knowledge and practices in accordance with Standards of Nursing Practice; JCAHO, state, and local laws; MIDC policy.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Practice Physicians and Practice Administrator.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid IL RN state license.
- At least two years RN office practice experience, preferably in an infusion‑related practice.
- Infusion experience.
- Chemo experience is preferred, but not required.
- Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID‑19.
