Job Description
Join the Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC) at University of Chicago Medicine. Sign‑on bonus up to $10,000 and relocation available.
As an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant), you will provide comprehensive direct patient care, managing patients with autonomous decision‑making in assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. You will deliver healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical support, under supervision of the Cancer Service Line leadership.
ORAC is an APP‑staffed clinic caring for cancer patients requiring urgent, same‑day/next‑day assessment and treatment, often involving acute care for symptoms of malignancy and toxicities of cancer therapies. After orientation, you will work autonomously and collaboratively with the ORAC team, using evidence‑based practice with faculty, pharmacists, and nurses. This candidate will be trained in management of both hematologic and solid tumor malignancies, as well as oncologic emergencies (e.g., neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity due to therapeutic agents, DIC, HLH, sepsis, and cord compression).

- Take patient history, conduct examinations, and diagnose illness
- Evaluate patients and order and interpret laboratory tests
- Exercise autonomy in medical decision‑making, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration
- Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or AANP
- Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
- At least 1 year of inpatient nursing experience preferred but not required
- Previous oncology, urgent care, or ED experience preferred
- Acute Care experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program
- Certification in ACLS and by the NCCPA and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure/registration
- At least 1 year of experience in hematology/oncology, urgent care or ED preferred
