Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring PICC line management and IV start experience.

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license required
• Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• PICC line management experience required
• Experience starting IVs required
• Willingness to care for trach and laryngectomy patients (experience not required, but must be willing to learn)
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler

• Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Medical/Surgical unit assignment
• Day shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Patient ratio is typically lower but may reach up to 1:7 at maximum capacity
• PICC line management performed on this unit
• Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)
• Every other weekend required; if RTO falls on a scheduled weekend, an additional makeup weekend will be required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must be willing to care for trach and laryngectomy patients; training provided for those without prior experience
• Scrub color: any solid color
• Parking permit required at no cost; form completed during orientation
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Only 1 winter holiday may be requested off; all RTO is subject to manager approval based on unit scheduling
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
• Hospital does not accept travel pairs — candidates must apply individually
