Position Overview
Cross Country Nurses is seeking a Travel RN in Oncology for a 13‑week assignment starting 08/03/2026 at 701 N 1st St, Springfield, IL 62781. The role is a Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse in a Level I trauma center, covering 3x12‑hour days and a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Provides specialized care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy oncology unit, focusing on chemotherapy administration, IV therapy, port management, central line care, and management of side‑effects. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, support patient education, and manage cytotoxic spills and abnormal lab values. Floating within scope is required and intermittent weekend coverage may be requested.
Responsibilities- Administer chemotherapy, IV therapy, and port anticoagulation.
- Manage central lines, ports, and related complications.
- Provide patient education and emotional support.
- Document interventions in Cerner charting system.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and hand‑offs.
- Recognize and communicate abnormal laboratory values.
- Assist with cytotoxic spill disposal and PPE use.
- Ensure compliance with oncology protocols and safety regulations.
- Active Illinois RN license or active application.
- Minimum 1 year recent oncology experience.
- BLS certification.
- Certification in oncology: OCN, ONS, or Chemotherapy certification from ONC/ONCC.
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, IV therapy, port management, central line care, and side‑effect management.
- Experience using Cerner charting system preferred.
- Community hospital or Level I trauma center experience preferred.
- Travel experience mandatory.
- Oncology certifications: OCN, ONS, or multiple certs.
- Experience managing port access and blood product administration.
- Experience with cytotoxic spill disposal protocols.
- Knowledge of abnormal lab value communication.
- No on‑call requirement.
- RTO restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.
- Submission requires SSN, DOB, housing confirmation, and interview availability.
