Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire an Infection Prevention/Control Nurse. This position conducts complex random and targeted infection control related surveys to monitor hospitals compliance with Federal, State and Accreditation guidelines; reviews qualitative/quantitative infection control data, providing follow-up for problem areas identified; supports the Statewide Quality Control Nurse; assists in conducting surveys and reviewing policies and procedures to monitor conformance to Federal, State and Accreditation guidelines in such areas as patient safety, nursing, and treatment;

and provides consultation and expertise to hospital staff, Department of Human Services (DHS) leadership and other stakeholders regarding such areas as infection control, psychiatric and medical services, nursing requirements and treatment services.

Essential Functions

* Serves as an Infection Prevention/Control Nurse.

* Supports the Statewide Quality Control Nurse.

* Serves as a consultant/expert advisor to DBHR/SOPH staff, DHS leadership and other stakeholders regarding such areas as infection control, psychiatric and medical services, nursing requirements, best practice, and treatment services.

* Identifies areas in need of being reviewed or in need of having data collected.

* Works with quality and training staff to identify training and monitor needs in areas such as assessment and treatment, treatment outcomes and the environment of care.

* Performs other duties as assigned or required that are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
