American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience across multiple service lines and an active IL RN license.
Details- Work setting is a 562-bed acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center with a 23-room OR suite
- Covers all surgical service lines except cardiovascular (CV)
- Night shift schedule: 5x8 hours, 22:45–07:15, Monday through Friday
- One weekend shift required per month
- On-call required approximately once per week
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility is required of all travelers
- Charting is done in Cerner (experience preferred)
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Current BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required
- General OR and trauma surgical experience required
- Required bariatric case experience: laparoscopic-assisted cases
- Required general surgery experience: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
- Required neurology case experience: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
- Required orthopedic case experience: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures
- Required plastic surgery case experience: free flap microvascular procedures
- Required transplant experience: organ donation
- Required urology case experience: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
- Required trauma case experience: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA with multiple injuries
- Required emergency management skills: code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, malignant hyperthermia protocol
- Required equipment experience: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
- Required professional skills: administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time-out) procedure, urinary bladder catheterization
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- All requested time off is subject to manager review and approval
- Cerner EMR experience is preferred
