American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience across multiple service lines and an active IL RN license.
Details- Large 23-room Operating Room department within a 562-bed acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center
- Works across multiple surgical service lines including general surgery, trauma, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, urology, transplant, bariatrics, and more — CV service line excluded
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
- On-call required approximately once per week
- One weekend shift required per month
- Floating within scope may be required, including to nearby affiliate facilities
- Cerner EMR used for charting (experience preferred)
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Free parking is available on-site
- Active IL RN license required — must be active and in hand at time of consideration
- Active BLS (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
- CNOR preferred
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Required general surgery experience:
Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple - Required neurology experience:
Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion - Required orthopedic experience:
Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed/Open reduction of fractures - Required trauma experience:
Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries) - Required urology experience:
Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy - Required plastics experience:
Free Flap – Microvascular - Required transplant experience:
Organ donation - Required bariatric experience:
Laparoscopic assisted cases - Required emergency management skills:
Code response, Fire safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia - Required equipment experience:
Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables - Required professional skills:
Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation Safety, Specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time Out), Urinary bladder catheterization - SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO beyond 5 non-holiday days requires facility manager approval
- Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
- Previous permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Block scheduling is not available for this assignment
- Orientation begins with a virtual, at-home day; required modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1
- Preferred skills include:
Gynecological procedures (hysterectomy, BTL, D&C, etc.), ALIF, Da Vinci Xi and Mazor robotic systems, Total joint replacement, Ortho/Spine, Burns, Laser Safety, and Pediatric ENT (Tonsillectomy/adenoids)
