Job Summary

The Operating Room (OR) Specialist position is located in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing surgical support in a Level I trauma center within a large acute care hospital. The assignment offers a flexible duration of 13 to 26 weeks, with the traveler selecting their preferred timeframe. The position requires working nights, specifically from 5:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

    • General OR and trauma experience
    • Bariatric case experience, including laparoscopic assisted procedures
    • General surgery cases such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure
    • Neuro cases like cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
    • Orthopedic cases including arthroscopy, fracture reduction
    • Plastic surgery procedures such as free flaps
    • Transplant procedures involving organ donation
    • Urology cases like cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
    • Trauma cases involving amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries from motor vehicle accidents
    • Emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, and managing allergies like latex
    • Equipment and instrumentation experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic sources, Hana tables
    • Knowledge in blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, urinary catheterization
  • Additional Information:
    • Level I trauma center within an acute care hospital environment
    • No float arrangements required; located within a hospital with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory, radiology, and pharmacy services
    • RTO (Request for Time Off) must be approved; all shifts potentially subject to cancellation, with specific billing considerations for cancellations beyond permitted limits
    • Candidate must hold or be in process of obtaining an active Illinois license and have the SSN and DOB available at submission
    • The role excludes cardiovascular service line support
    • The assignment requires compliance with all facility policies, including modules completion and badge photo submission within one week of contract signing
