Description:

Please review submittal instructions and provide answers upon submission. October, November, or December start dates available. Travelers can choose assignment length. First-timers are not accepted. Weekend requirement is 1 per month. On-call requirement is 1 per week, though cancellations are rare. Candidates may float within their skill set, but it rarely happens. Local candidates are not accepted; applicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility.

All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager. The facility may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without payment for the canceled hours. If more hours are canceled than permitted, the client will be billed for any additional shifts canceled. If candidates are placed on-call instead of being called off, that will count as a called-off shift.

The role requires experience with all service lines except Cardiovascular. Cerner experience is preferred. Level 1 trauma experience is required. Required bariatric case experience includes laparoscopic assisted cases. Required general surgery case experience includes appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy (partial/total), and Whipple. Required neurology case skills include cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion.

Required orthopedic case skills include arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed reduction of fractures, and open reduction of fractures. Required plastic surgery case skills include free flap and microvascular. Required transplant skills include organ donation. Required urology case skills include cystoscopy, nephrectomy, and prostatectomy. Required trauma case skills include amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injuries from motor vehicle accidents. Required emergency management skills include code response, fire safety, latex allergy awareness, and malignant hyperthermia protocols.

Required equipment experience includes electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords. Required professional knowledge includes administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time-out procedure), and urinary bladder catheterization. Please ensure that candidates have the required skills listed. Candidates must be compliant with all requirements before submission. References may be pending at the time of submission.

Travelers may be required to float to nearby facilities if needed.
