American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med Surg RN for a 13-week Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital assignment requiring PICC line management and IV therapy skills.
Details- Medical Surgical unit in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital with 562 staffed beds
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts )
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
- Must be willing to accept up to a 1:7 patient ratio when needed
- Must be willing to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients (experience not required but willingness to learn is essential)
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Active IL RN license in hand required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg RN experience required
- BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
- PICC line management experience required
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, CBI, PCA, surgical drain care, and wound care/wound vac management
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including IV therapy, wound care, and management of tracheostomy/laryngectomy patients as needed
- Any solid color scrubs permitted
- Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
- Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests are reviewed and approved by the unit manager based on scheduling needs
- Only one winter holiday off may be requested
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- If requested time off falls on a scheduled weekend, an additional weekend will be scheduled to make up for the time away
