American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.

• Medical Surgical unit in a 562-bed acute care hospital
• Average daily census of 22 patients with a 1:5-7 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours )
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to other units or nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Schedule requests may be discussed with the manager

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of application
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Ortho trauma experience required
• Experience with surgical drains required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including telemetry remote monitoring and Rapid Response Team use
• Gastrointestinal care skills required, including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Genitourinary/renal skills required, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication administration experience required with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Respiratory care skills required, including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy management, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
• Neurological/psychiatric experience with spinal cord injuries required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac required
• Previous travel experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

• Acute Care Hospital designated as a Level I trauma center and Magnet facility
• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care across a range of complex patient needs
• Any solid color scrubs permitted
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Requested time off ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• First-time travel nurses will not be considered for this role
