Customer Experience
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Register sales on assigned cash register, provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
- Assist the pharmacist, under supervision, with pharmacy practice, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
- Recommend items for sale, trade‑ups, and companion items.
- Register purchases on assigned cash register, collect cash, distribute change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges. Direct customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
- Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised; take inventory and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required by the manager.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program. Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require personal pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
- Process, correct, and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently, and perform other clerical duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Assist and support the Pharmacy Department with inventory management, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, and damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
- Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise. Complete resets and revisions as directed.
- Assist with separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies, and perform stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out.
- Have working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
- Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, and suggest promotional photo products.
- Assume web pickup responsibilities, monitoring orders, picking items, and delivering them to customers as they arrive.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and orderly store condition.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
- Attend training and complete PPLs requested by management; acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Unless in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Prefer six months of retail experience.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
