Description

Do you have what it takes to lead a high-performance outdoor advertising sales team? Our Lamar office in Springfield, Illinois is now hiring a Sales Manager (salary + bonus) to bring outdoor advertising campaigns to life in Springfield and surrounding areas. The Sales Manager oversees all advertising sales activities, manages sales and maximizes revenue, motivates the team, and ensures customer relations while meeting monthly, quarterly and annual budgets.

What we are looking for in you
  • Skill in projecting and monitoring sales budgets
  • Ability to make oral presentations
  • Skill in speaking with diverse backgrounds
  • Skill in establishing rapport, encouraging individuals and listening
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships within the sales department
  • Skill in managing, organizing objectives, delegating, training, evaluating, and administering discipline
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of all company departments, including operations
  • Ability to explain outdoor advertising business to customers and account executives from installation and product standpoints
  • Working knowledge of Lamar’s policies and procedures
  • Ability to develop teams of cross‑functional experts in different geographic locations
Education and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience (preferred)
  • Driver’s license (required)
  • or another equivalent combination of education & experience

A day in the life
  • Supervise hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating sales personnel
  • Develop personnel for overall company growth and ensure compliance with policies
  • Maintain efficient, productive sales operations in the office
  • Maintain sales at acceptable levels; manage salesforce, approve contracts, develop advertising programs
  • Participate in sales training programs
  • Assist the General Manager in goal‑setting for sales performance
  • Ensure proposals and presentations are professionally completed
  • Maintain good public relations with community and customers
  • Co‑ordinate and manage efforts with operations, administration, and real estate for timely proposals, proofs of performance, and installations
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Primary work environments: office and vehicle
  • Light lifting, visual tasks, sitting >50% of time, standing, talking, walking
  • Limited nights away from home (less than 10%)
