The Regional Crop Care Manager is responsible for performing agronomic field tests and trials throughout the assigned Region in the United States with occasional travel outside region, showcasing agronomic and financial improvements from usage of Ecorobotix products. This position will ensure that developed algorithms are utilized as intended, the sprayer machine is fully optimized, and the full operating system is refined as needed to maximize grower benefits in the field.
Additional work will consist of planning, in-season scouting with data collection, and reporting on the field tests performed. In addition, the Regional Crop Care Manager will work closely with various business and technical stakeholders to develop capabilities to utilize Ecorobotix products in additional crops and to improve the performance of the products.
The newly created role will report to the North American Crop Care Manager of North America and is part of a team of Regional Crop Care Managers located across the United States. The Crop Care function is highly collaborative with other internal teams including the sales organization, customer support, and crop data technicians. Externally, this position will be responsible for relationships with growers, dealers, universities and their extensions.
The Crop Care Manager, Northcentral US has a preferred location within 250 miles of Springfield in IL and will be responsible for covering a region that covers North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota.
Crop Care and Technical knowledge and experience with high value vegetables like onions and carrots, is highly desirable for this Region. Experience in (dry) beans, soy, or corn is helpful.
Key Responsibilities- Develop crop plans for weeds, pests, disease control, and application of foliar fertilizers.
- Performing validation testing of those crop plans in agronomic field tests.
- Provide customer consulting on crop protection questions and chemical application recommendations.
- Engage in R&D research tasks for Product Managers and R+D related to local regional conditions.
- Perform algorithm field testing for local conditions and provide reporting results to Crop Data Technicians and the After-Sales Teams.
- Assist with sales related support knowledge as needed.
- Planning, in-season scouting, data collection, and evaluation of field tests.
- Advise and follow-up field tests set-up in conjunction with our partners.
- Handling and deployment of ARA (North America, Ecorobotix sprayer) in the field for tests and training.
- Possess agronomic knowledge and observations related to the product development process.
- Prospect and analyze future crops and opportunities for ARA by discussing with customers and partners.
- Ability to travel up to 60% within Region and other North American locations as needed.
- 5+ years of crop care experience, with proven track record in agriculture related R&D, sales or practical agriculture.
- Experience working in a start-up AgTech environment, where roles evolve quickly; problems are ambiguous, and employees often work independently.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, willingness to build relationships with customers.
- Project management ownership with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Adaptable to business needs which often shift direction based on weather, research results, or market needs.
- Ability to be resourceful with teams that operate with limited staff, budget, and tools.
