Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol – Springfield, IL

About the Position

This is a flexible part‑time position designed for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands‑on experience, or work toward a full‑time career. You will be assigned to a site and work fixed anchor shifts, with the option to earn more by picking up additional shifts.

Pay Rate

Pay Rate: $22.38 / Hour

Requirements
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • 1+ years of security experience required.
Job Schedule
  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
How This Role Works
  • Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six‑month commitment.
  • Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service at a government location by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting relevant details and communicating with site contacts as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site policies, assisting with entry procedures, directions, and reporting of security‑related concerns.
  • Support daily operations by observing the location for policy violations, maintenance issues, and/or hazards, then notifying the appropriate personnel for follow‑up.
Minimum Requirements
  • Have at least 1 year of security‑related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A state, county, or city issued security‑related license is preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet.
  • Have customer service experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
