Our client, a progressive and growing agricultural operation, is seeking a Lead Farm Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, machinery, and facilities. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring all equipment and infrastructure are operating efficiently to support daily farm operations.
As the Lead Farm Maintenance Technician, you will take ownership of preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and prioritize maintenance activities. You will also lead and support a Maintenance Assistant while working cross‑functionally with farm operations to keep everything running smoothly.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee and perform daily maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, machinery, and facilities
- Execute and manage preventive maintenance programs (PMs), including oil changes, lubrication, and inspections
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Perform welding and fabrication for repairs and equipment modifications
- Prioritize maintenance requests and determine repair vs. replacement decisions
- Supervise and assign daily tasks to the Maintenance Assistant, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Operate farm equipment as needed to support operations
- Manage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Repair and maintain farm structures including fencing, gates, water systems, and barn components
- Collaborate with operations teams on maintenance needs and special projects
- Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and participate in on‑call rotation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- High School Diploma or GED required; trade school certification preferred or equivalent hands‑on experience
- 3–5 years of experience in preventive maintenance and repair of farm or heavy equipment
- 2+ years of mechanical, welding, and fabrication experience
- Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Proven ability to work independently while leading and supporting a small team
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) for record keeping and communication
- Valid driver’s license required; additional technical certifications (ASE, Diesel, Electrical, etc.) are a plus
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and working in outdoor environments year‑round
