Aircraft Mechanic II – Overview
Global Logistics Support Services, Incorporated (GLSS) brings an immediate opening for an Aircraft Mechanic II at our Springfield, IL location. Military experience is a plus. The role requires a combination of experience in engine repair, sheet‑metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power‑train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, as well as the ability to prioritize workloads, work with technical publications, and lead teams through more complex aircraft‑relevant tasks.
Mechanic II’s may also inspect other mechanics.
- This mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures as well as structural components of moderate difficulty.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power‑plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
- Restores equipment to operational condition with required expertise.
- Analyzes technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturer manuals to solve moderate to complex problems.
- Receives technical guidance from supervisor or higher‑level technician and occasionally leads teams on complex tasks.
- Makes entries in aircraft logs and records as required.
- Maintains working knowledge of technical publications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical components, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and part replacement.
- Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal, structural modifications, and repairs.
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet‑metal brakes and sheers.
- Ability to prioritize workload to maintain schedule on assigned projects.
- Specialization in sheet‑metal, electric work, avionics, or other aircraft‑systems disciplines is desirable.
- Engine technician expertise in troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, and performing sequential disassembly and assembly of F110‑GE‑100/100B/129, T34‑GE‑100A, and F118‑GE‑101A engines.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled engine inspections IAW applicable Technical Data.
- One year of experience performing Intermediate Level Jet Engine Maintenance.
- Intermediate Level jet engine repair experience on F100‑GE‑100/100B/129 engines is highly desired.
