Job Profile

Position:
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level Individual Contributor, Flexible Work Option. Relocation to the specified city, state, or region required; travel 100% of the time. Hourly base pay range: $26.73–$40.10, with possible additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs.

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges, and conduct road tests to confirm proper operation.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company‑issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks, schedule work, and meet standard repair time expectations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks where necessary.
  • Document work in Repair Orders (“RO”) using the company‑issued iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application, including pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed.
  • Accurately complete DOT and related forms in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain the service truck with daily safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors and communicate with management for repair approvals, purchase orders, and RO findings.
Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and 5 years of experience.

• Hand tool kit sufficient to perform required duties.

• Valid Class C driver’s license and a driver qualification file; must be a safe driver.

• Able to perform at least 21 years old, pass DOT‑regulated background screening, DOT physical, and maintain a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining (or undergo a DOT physical if less).

• Must obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.

  • Accurate judgment of distances and object locations.
