The Senior Field Service Technician at Oshkosh Aero Tech primarily serves our Chicago-based customers and remains within the Illinois area, with occasional travel to other U.S. airports. This senior-level GSE Technician will perform diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance on a variety of ground support equipment (GSE).

Responsibilities
  • Must have previous GSE experience to be considered only.
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on hydraulic systems (pumps, motors, actuators, valves), electrical systems (wiring, fuses, relays, sensors, control modules), and mechanical systems (suspension, steering, drive assemblies).
  • Interface with PLC systems to upload/download programs, troubleshoot logic, and perform control system adjustments.
  • Collaborate with dealer technicians via phone/email or on-site for troubleshooting assistance.
  • Review technical documentation, manuals, and schematics to ensure accurate service procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation through work order systems, ensuring issue resolution and service reporting.
  • Participate in OEM testing and equipment upgrades as needed.
  • Provide end-user product orientation and safe operating procedures at customer sites.
  • Mentor or train junior or less-experienced technicians in-field when required.

Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and five (5) or more years of relevant experience in machine assembly, light fabrication, or prior GSE experience.
  • Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and repair, mechanical systems and component-level service, hydraulic diagnostics and repair.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a passport if necessary.
  • Must be able to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
Benefits and Pay

Travel outside of ORD will be between 40-50% of the time.

We pay a per diem for nights spent away from home during travel and reimburse all travel expenses.

Pay Range: $73,200.00 – $. (The above range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations.)
