Gambling Outreach Worker - Springfield

Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC) is a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization that treats and prevents substance use disorder and other related problems. A Product Coordinator dedicated to community outreach in Sangamon County, providing problem gambling education, screenings, brief intervention, and referrals to the community and FGC patients, while supporting patients on FGC’s mobile harm reduction unit.

• Providing problem gambling education, screenings, and referrals throughout the community served (Sangamon County), including activations arranged as part of the Illinois-sponsored ‘are you really winning’ campaign.
• Providing brief intervention to individuals identified with concerns regarding gambling, whether they accept a treatment referral or not.
• Delivering problem gambling education, screening, brief intervention and referral to Family Guidance Centers’ patients as appropriate.
• Distributing gambling education materials to organizations in the community, such as behavioral health organizations, social service organizations, and establishments that have gambling (e.g., video gaming terminals).
• Supporting patients accessing care on FGC’s mobile harm reduction unit, including conducting initial screening/brief intervention, arranging transportation, and ensuring ongoing engagement in treatment at a community-based provider.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (8:00 a – 4:30 p); flexibility to support program needs.

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience with substance use and/or problem gambling and stable recovery.
• Familiarity with federal and state confidentiality laws.
• Knowledge of gambling‑related treatment and support resources, medication‑assisted treatment (MAT), drug‑free recovery programs, and hospital‑based medical detox admission and discharge processes.
• Certification as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) is preferred.
