Crysalis Biosciences is seeking a Logistics Manager to oversee and coordinate all inbound and outbound transportation activities for its ethanol production facility. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring timely delivery of product to a key customer while managing rail and trucking logistics, vendor coordination, and operational efficiency. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and can help build structure within a growing operation.
Responsibilities- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics operations, including rail and trucking activities.
- Manage railcar logistics, including scheduling, tracking, and cycle time optimization.
- Coordinate with railcar leasing companies (e.g., Trinity, AITX) for contracts and equipment management.
- Oversee railcar inspections and maintenance coordination, ensuring compliance within required time frames.
- Work closely with third‑party logistics providers (3PLs) to manage daily transportation activities.
- Ensure on‑time delivery performance for a major customer with strict contractual obligations.
- Track and manage product volume flow, including inbound raw materials (grain) and outbound ethanol shipments.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with plant operations, procurement, and leadership.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Assist in planning future logistics needs as the company expands into additional product lines.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or logistics is often required.
- 2–5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain.
- Experience coordinating freight movement (rail, truck, or both).
- Strong understanding of transportation operations and scheduling.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, unstructured environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a “figure it out” mindset.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience with rail logistics or bulk commodity transportation.
- Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, or plant environments.
- Experience working with railcar leasing companies or 3PL providers.
- Understanding of cycle time optimization and asset utilization.
Logistics managers report to the Vice President of Operations. They enjoy high‑level cross‑functional collaboration and direct interaction with external vendors and a key customer (logistics‑related communication only).
