Position: Job Cost Accountant

Position Title: Job Cost Accountant

Location: West Springfield, MA

Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $87,000.00

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Job Cost Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This is a non‑exempt position and reports to the Senior Cost Accountant.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze costs associated with construction projects.
  • Track expenses related to labor, materials, subcontractors, and other costs for each job.
  • Assist in monthly review of projects with the Project Managers.
  • Update monthly projections for projects.
  • Assist in preparing accurate documentation for the prequalification process.
  • Assist in posting monthly job accruals and work in progress review.
  • Assist in Cap Ex budgeting and annual plant budget process.
  • Prepare cost‑related reports for management.
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
  • Contribute to accurate financial statements.
  • Travel 10‑15% required, based out of West Springfield office.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in accounting or equivalent field experience.
  • 3‑5 years of general accounting experience including payroll, accounts payable or accounts receivable (internal applicants may be appointed with less than this).
  • Proficiency in cost accounting principles; construction industry preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; self‑motivated and curious.
  • Very comfortable with Microsoft Office products, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with Vista a plus.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate in the office to occasionally loud at field locations.
