About NAI Plotkin

NAI Plotkin is a third-generation, family-owned commercial real estate and property management firm with over 60 years of history in Western Massachusetts. Headquartered at 1350 Main Street, Springfield, we specialize in third-party property management, commercial brokerage, and condominium association management across a diverse portfolio of asset classes. We are an affiliate of NAI Global, one of the world's leading commercial real estate networks.

We manage a broad range of clients — from individual building owners to institutional portfolios — and we take genuine pride in the quality, integrity, and precision of our work. Our accounting team is the operational backbone of that commitment.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a sharp, experienced Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to step into a leadership role on our accounting team. You will oversee three to four accounting staff, manage the financial reporting for multiple client portfolios and corporate entities, and serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership. If you thrive on variety, take satisfaction in clean books and accurate reporting, and want a seat at the table in a growing regional firm, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities Multi-Entity Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee financial reporting for NAI Plotkin corporate operations and managed client portfolios
  • Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations across all entities
  • Review monthly financial packages for property owners and condominium associations
  • Manage CAM reconciliations, tenant ledger accuracy, and reserve fund accounting
  • Coordinate year-end close and support external CPA for tax preparation
App Folio Administration & Quality Control
  • Serve as the firm's App Folio power user and internal resource for accounting best practices within the platform
  • Establish and enforce quality control procedures across the accounting team to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Review work product of direct reports and provide coaching and feedback
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reduce manual processes
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 3–4 staff accountants and bookkeepers
  • Assign and prioritize workload across the team based on portfolio demands
  • Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and professional development conversations
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and responsiveness
Strategic & Advisory Support
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support portfolio management decisions and new business development
  • Assist leadership in evaluating the financial performance of managed properties and identifying trends
  • Support RFP responses and new client onboarding from an accounting and systems standpoint
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning at both the corporate and property level
  • Advise on internal controls, financial risk, and operational efficiency
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role
  • Experience in property management accounting (commercial, residential, or condominium association preferred)
  • Proficiency in App Folio or comparable property management accounting software (Yardi, MRI, or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, multi-entity reporting, and account reconciliation
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail — you catch errors before they become problems
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with third-party property management firms
  • Familiarity with CAM reconciliations and tenant billing in a commercial context
  • CPA license or CPA candidate (not required, but valued)
  • Experience supporting leadership with financial analysis and strategic planning
  • Comfort working in a family-owned, relationship-driven business environment
