Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Vaco is partnering with a confidential, growing organization near Springfield, MA to identify a Controller who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and enjoys partnering closely with executive leadership to drive financial excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants to make a meaningful impact by leading day-to-day accounting operations, improving financial processes, and serving as a trusted business partner to executive leadership.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Perform cost accounting, job costing, profitability analysis, and commission calculations
• Manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance and 1099 reporting
• Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, internal controls, and continuous process improvements
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while ensuring strong internal controls and segregation of duties

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Progressive accounting experience, including leadership or controllership responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls
• Construction or other project-based industry experience is a plus
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a hands-on approach
