Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction

Massachusetts | $90,000 – $135,000 DOE | Full-Time, Permanent

Foster Lawson is recruiting a Project Engineer on behalf of a well-established heavy civils contractor based in Massachusetts. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team delivering complex infrastructure projects across the state, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field operations to keep projects on track from planning through completion.

You’ll be involved in some of the region’s most demanding civil infrastructure work — spanning rail, bridge, highway, tunnel, marine, and sitework/excavation projects — and will play a key role in coordinating the technical, schedule, and quality aspects of construction delivery.

• Support day-to-day project execution, working alongside Project Managers and Superintendents on heavy civil construction sites
• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to guide field operations
• Track project quantities, production rates, labor, equipment, and materials
• Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and change orders with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and quality/safety compliance across active work fronts
• Liaise with owners, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory bodies as required
• Maintain accurate project documentation and daily progress reporting

• 3+ years' experience on heavy civil infrastructure projects — rail, bridge, highway, tunnel, marine, excavation, or sitework
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
• Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Familiarity with scheduling and project management software
• Solid understanding of OSHA requirements and site safety standards
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work on active job sites across Massachusetts

• $90,000 – $135,000 base salary, depending on experience
