Western Mass News has a unique opportunity for a Producer looking to break into the broadcast industry. This hybrid position will allow you to hone your content-producing skills while also producing an award-winning newscast. The candidate who is hired for this position will serve as our Weekend Morning News Producer and work as a Content Producer on our assignment desk during the week.

• Produce daily newscast
• Conceptualize newscast rundown
• Collaborate with Executive Producer, field crews, and assignment desk to determine content of newscast
• Write scripts
• Research stories
• Pitch story ideas
• Participate in editorial meetings
• Preview material before air
• Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements
• Incorporate and coordinate breaking news
• Work to constantly improve and evolve the look and execution of newscasts
• Execute the show from the control room
• Meet all show timing requirements

• Gather meaningful news information from various sources
• Generate story ideas
• Discern credible news tips
• Schedule news crews and take in live feeds
• Create content that is aligned with and enhances the station brand
• Publish content on multiple digital platforms, including mobile, online, and social networks

This person should have solid news judgment, a sound grasp of online journalism, and a sense of urgency for breaking news.

• Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience
• Knowledge of TV News producing tools a plus (i.e., ENPS, Edius)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and work as a member of a team
• Must be results-oriented
• Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced environment
• Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure
