RFK Academy at RFK Community Alliance is a state-approved special education day school serving students aged 10-22 with multiple disabilities. The Math Teacher contributes to the application of functional and academic education as a key educational team member within a therapeutic milieu. The Math Teacher develops and oversees progress on content and skill-based goals and evaluates and articulates progress collaboratively with the team according to treatment planning and students  Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

The Math Teacher creates a differentiated curriculum, delivers instruction, and supports students  ability to access the academic program. You will implement grade-level curricula to meet academic standards based on the Mass. Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Curriculum. You will recognize the unique qualities of each student and incorporate them into appropriate lessons and/or projects.

• Operates a classroom that meets the student s needs for safety, educational growth, and social/emotional development.
• Evaluates student s educational needs in Mathematics and develops educational plans to meet those needs.
• Produces educational assessments (formal and informal) in Mathematics for each student.
• Assists in the development of IEP goals with the Education Coordinator.
• Delivers classroom instruction to help students meet Mathematics goals in their IEPs and curriculum goals per Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
• Participates in TEAM and Treatment Team Meetings involving classroom students.
• Follows and participates in the Behavior Management System.
• Supervises and develops a collaborative team atmosphere with colleagues and teaching assistants.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and Professional Development Days.
• Participates in teacher team meetings and implements team goals.
• Acts as a positive adult role model and team member with RFK staff and outside collaterals.
• Assumes other responsibilities necessary to ensure program safety and continuity.

You lead with compassion and value collaboration, professionalism and teamwork. The best-qualified candidate will have a Bachelor s degree; a Master s degree and MA certification in Mathematics (5-12) or Moderate Disabilities (5-15) is preferred.

• Special Education Teacher:
  Moderate Disabilities, High School, Science background preferred.

• 40 hours per week:
  Monday - Friday, days; 12-month benefited position
