Position: 5th Grade Math/Science Teacher (SY26-27, Middle School)

Overview

What You'll Do At Veritas Prep, Middle School Math/Science Teachers play a critical role in ensuring all students develop strong mathematical reasoning, scientific thinking, and academic confidence needed to thrive in high school, college, and beyond. As a Math/Science Teacher, you will co-advise a class of approximately 27 students alongside an ELA/History Teacher, sharing responsibility for both academic achievement and a strong, positive classroom culture.

You will plan and deliver rigorous, engaging instruction in math and science that ensures every student—regardless of background—can access grade-level standards, build conceptual understanding, and apply their learning to complex problems. In partnership with your co-advisor, you will cultivate a joyful, structured classroom community where students of all identities feel safe, valued, challenged, and supported to meet ambitious goals.

In this role, you will
  • Implement school-wide routines and systems that create consistency, maximize learning time, and support a focused, orderly environment
  • Deliver High Quality Instructional Materials in Math (Fishtank Math) and Science that enable students to develop strong mathematical and scientific thinking skills
  • Collaborate closely with your math/science team to internalize curriculum, strengthen instructional materials in response to student data, and align on best practices
  • Use student data to drive instructional decisions, provide targeted support/interventions, and accelerate growth during class, daily intervention block, and daily tutoring
  • Teach a daily seminar block focused on college and career readiness, including goal-setting, self-advocacy, collaboration, and responsible decision-making
  • Reinforce social-emotional skills by intentionally embedding them into classroom instruction, routines, and daily interactions with students
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and actively communicate and partner with families to support student success
  • Center inclusive, culturally responsive practices that affirm students  identities and promote belonging and high expectations for all
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and school leaders to problem-solve, support students, and contribute to a strong team culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your school Principal and/or manager

What You ll Need (Qualifications)

  • Demonstrates an unwavering belief that all students can meet and exceed grade-level academic standards
  • Exhibits a commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice as an educator
  • Builds and sustains positive, collaborative, and effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both oral and written contexts
  • Maintains consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance
  • Bachelor s degree required
  • One to three years of teaching experience preferred
  • Massachusetts DESE Elementary Licensure Preferred, or eligibility to achieve Highly Qualified status within one year of employment, demonstrated by:
  • passing score on the Communications and Literacy (Reading and Writing) MTEL and
  • passing score on the Elementary, Math or Middle School Mathematics MTEL or equivalent, and/or,
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
