Description

Springfield College invites applications for two Program-Track Assistant Professors of Chemistry in the Department of Biology & Chemistry. The college seeks broadly trained chemists, preferably in the fields of analytical or inorganic chemistry, who can teach introductory chemistry lecture and laboratory courses to a wide range of majors (Chemistry Survey and General Chemistry) and possibly an upper level course in their specialty.

Each position has a full-time workload of 12 hours per semester. Program-Track faculty, whose emphasis is on teaching and professional or clinical practice, are appointed to a rolling series of contracts that lead to long-term appointment at the college. Program-Track faculty are eligible for promotion as long as they meet the relevant criteria outlined in the faculty handbook. Preference is given to candidates who are engaging and innovative teachers and have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, access, and excellence in STEM education.

These courses will meet face-to-face on the Springfield, MA campus.

Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to degrees attained, experience, and other considerations permitted by law. Comprehensive compensation details, including any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.

Qualifications

* A Masters degree (with commensurate teaching experience) required;
PhD from a regionally accredited institution preferred. ABD candidates are invited to apply.

* Strong teaching experience, especially with first-year students, is ideal.
