Company Description

Springfield College Ameri Corps offers opportunities for college students and community members to make a meaningful impact by serving as Student Support Specialists, Academic Support Specialists, and After-School Support Specialists. Members provide mentoring, academic coaching, and social-emotional support to K-12 students in Springfield and Holyoke's elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as youth attending community-based organizations. The program connects passionate individuals with local students to bridge educational gaps and foster positive development in the community.

Role Description

This is a volunteer, on-site role located in Springfield, MA or Holyoke, MA. Members serve directly with K-12 students, supporting their academic success and personal development. Daily tasks include providing mentorship, academic tutoring, and social-emotional support, while building meaningful relationships that encourage student growth. Memberss will also collaborate with educators and staff to align support strategies with students' individual needs.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills, including the ability to build meaningful relationships with students
  • Competency in academic coaching, tutoring, and supporting students' learning needs
  • Experience with providing social-emotional support and fostering a positive environment
  • Passion for education, youth development, and helping students reach their potential
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, educators, and team members
  • Commitment to community service and making a positive impact in the Springfield community
