JOB GOAL:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
- Guides learning toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon supervisor’s request as required by contract.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with physical location constraints and student capabilities.
- Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, objectives, and performance expectations.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly, provides progress reports, and communicates with parents as deemed necessary.
- Maintains accurate records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Adheres to SPS code of conduct and enforces classroom behavior fairly.
- Plans and supervises paraprofessionals, providing written evaluations.
- Engages in professional development satisfying district and personal expectations.
- Participates in the teacher evaluation process and collaborates on outcomes.
- Attends district meetings for staff communication and decision‑making.
- Participates in building‑sponsored activities as agreed with administration.
- Contributes to budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff well‑being decisions.
- Maintains and improves professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content and grade level licensure:
Teacher of Severe or Moderate Disability (PK‑8, 5‑12) from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. - Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license.
- Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license at high‑school level preferred and expected within 5 years.
Position Type: FT – Full Year
Salary: $54,541 to $88,258 Per Year
