Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success implementing math intervention strategies.
JOB GOAL:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
- Plan a program of study that meets as much as possible the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Guide learning toward achievement of district curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location limitations and student needs.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
- Assess student achievements regularly, provide progress reports as required, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Diagnose student learning challenges regularly, seek district specialists’ assistance as required.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Follow the SPS code of conduct, develop and enforce fair classroom rules.
- Plan and supervise paraprofessional assignments, provide written evaluations.
- Maintain an ongoing professional growth program that satisfies district and personal expectations.
- Actively participate in the teacher evaluation process contributing to mutual agreement of results.
- Attend building and district meetings for communication and decision-making.
- Attend traditional school-sponsored activities as per contract.
- Contribute to district and building decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and well‑being.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Licensure in appropriate content and grade level (elementary, middle, or high school) from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s degree with appropriate license, or
- Master’s degree with appropriate content license preferred and expected within 5 years.
