Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Architecture and Building Technology (ABT). STCC's ABT program is uniquely positioned in Western Massachusetts as the only associate degree program in the region that fully integrates architectural design, building construction technology, sustainability, and project management. The program prepares students for direct entry into the architecture and construction industries, transfer into four-year institutions, or advancement within the skilled trades and building professions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad, practice-based understanding of both architectural design and applied building systems, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the ABT curriculum.
The faculty member will teach a range of courses that may include architectural drafting and design, CAD/BIM/Revit, construction systems, estimating, sustainability, building codes, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience that bridges architectural design, building technology, and construction management practices and will contribute to program development, student advising, industry partnerships, and community engagement. This position requires a commitment to hands‑on, applied learning and student-centered instruction within a diverse community college environment.
Requirements:- Master's degree in Architecture, Building Technology, Sustainable Design, Building Construction Management, or a closely related discipline (A bachelor's degree in a related field with significant industry experience may be considered if accompanied by a commitment to completing a master's degree).
- Professional experience in one or more of the following:
- Architectural design
- Building construction
- Construction management
- Building inspection or code enforcement
- Sustainable building systems
- Advanced proficiency in essential industry skills including design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM platforms.
- Demonstrated teaching or training experience related to architectural design, building technology, and/or construction management practices.
- Working knowledge of Massachusetts State Building Code, IBC/IRC, and energy codes.
- Demonstrated commitment to STCC's access mission, student success, inclusive teaching, and active learning.
