Position Overview

Middle School LLD (Summer 2026) Program (contingent on enrollment, funding, and programming)
Reports to:
Building Principal or designee.
Funding:
Various.
Salary: $50.00 per hour for classroom work, $29.10 per hour for prep time.
Work Schedule:
July 6, 2026 – July 30, 2026, 8:00am-1:45pm (and alternate 7:30am-2:00pm).
- Work under the direction of the Head Teacher, Special Education Supervisor, and Principal.
- Maintain student attendance records and follow up with absenteeism.
- Provide timely information to families and students.
- Prevent regression through instruction of academic, gross motor, and social skills per students’ IEPs.
- Teach assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Perform office and clerical duties associated with the program.
- Communicate student attendance and skill retention to schools.
- Assist with feeding, diapering, and personal hygiene as needed.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Head Teacher.
- Preference given to currently employed teachers in the Life Skills Program of Springfield Public Schools.
- Ability to modify curriculum and accommodate students as needed.
- Proficient in implementing students’ IEPs to meet individual needs.
- Capable of managing classroom staff and collaborating with professionals to provide a quality educational experience.
- Professional communication skills.
- Experience working with a diverse student population and staff pool.
Attendance at mandatory training with the Summer Coordinator and participation in Program Coordinator staff meetings as scheduled.
