Job DescriptionDUTIES:
- Meet and instruct assigned classes.
- Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a conducive learning environment appropriate to maturity and interests.
- Guide learning toward district curriculum goals; establish and communicate clear objectives.
- Prepare and demonstrate written evidence of preparation.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location and student needs.
- Implement district’s philosophy, instructional goals and objectives.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly; provide progress reports and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate records per law and district policy.
- Diagnose learning challenges and seek assistance from district specialists.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Follow school code of conduct and develop fair classroom behavior rules.
- Plan and supervise paraprofessional assignments; provide evaluations.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth and meet district and personal expectations.
- Participate in teacher evaluation process and agree on results.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication.
- Participate in traditional school sponsored activities per contract.
- Contribute to district and building decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and staff well‑being.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level (5‑12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or
- Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
