Job Description- Meet and instruct assigned classes per schedule.
- Plan a program of study that addresses individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate for student maturity.
- Guide the learning process to achieve district curriculum goals; set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepare for classes; provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Employ varied instructional techniques and media aligned with classroom location and student needs.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly; provide progress reports and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Diagnose student learning challenges; seek district specialist assistance as required.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Follow the district code of conduct; develop fair classroom behavior rules.
- Plan and supervise assignments for paraprofessionals; evaluate written records.
- Maintain ongoing professional growth meeting district requirements and personal goals.
- Participate in the teacher evaluation process; contribute to mutually agreed results.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and decision‑making.
- Attend sanctioned school activities (e.g., Back to School Night, Open House) per faculty agreement.
- Contribute to district and building decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well‑being.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade‑level (5‑12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s degree with appropriate license; or
- Master’s degree with preferred content‑area license, or expected within 5 years.
