Job Description & How to Apply Below

At New England Primate Conservancy, we make the complex science of animal protection and wildlife conservation easy to understand, meaningful, and engaging. Our education team pores through scientific research and transforms it into clear, approachable language so that everyone can assess, consider, and modify their impact on the natural world. And whenever possible, we make learning about conservation fun and inspiring.

Every choice we make has a ripple effect. Each small step in the right direction carries hope—for ecosystems, for species, and for the planet we all share. Saving one species truly saves many.

Our ultimate goal is responsible stewardship of Earth and all her creatures—because education is the heart of conservation.

Education does more than inform—it transforms

Beyond raising awareness of our environmental impact, NEPC’s programs aim to cultivate empathy and respect for all living beings. By fostering compassion toward animals, we nurture the same qualities that strengthen our relationships with one another.

Extensive research shows a direct connection between cruelty to animals and violence toward people. Conversely, compassion for our fellow animals often reflects—and reinforces—our compassion for each other. When we learn to value and protect other species, we strengthen the very foundation of our humanity.

When we protect and advocate for our fellow animals, we become part of a much greater solution—one that advances kindness, coexistence, and a more compassionate world for all.

About NEPC New England Primate Conservancy (NEPC) is a biodiversity and wildlife conservation organization that advances conservation through educational resources and multimedia learning tools. Our work focuses on long‑term, upstream impact—building conservation literacy, empathy, and informed action to protect primates and the ecosystems they share.

Primates and the Living Earth Lessons in Biodiversity and Conservation is NEPC’s growing collection of original, project‑based lessons and activities designed to help students understand how nature works and why biodiversity matters. Lessons are developed in‑house to ensure scientific integrity, age‑appropriate design, and alignment with current educational standards.

Position Overview

NEPC is seeking an experienced and creative educator to contribute to the continued development of our project‑based learning materials for grades K–12 (or specific age groups within that range). These resources are published on the NEPC website and may include online components, printable materials, videos, slideshows, graphics, interactive tools, or downloadable activities.

Initial Phase of Work

This role begins with reviewing and strengthening selected existing lessons and activities to ensure alignment with NEPC’s instructional approach and evolving educational standards. This may include refining lesson structure, clarifying learning objectives, strengthening scaffolding, and enhancing overall academic rigor.

Following this review and enhancement phase, the volunteer will transition into developing new project‑based learning materials.

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex conservation science into clear, engaging learning experiences
  • Experience aligning materials with STEM or STEAM standards is highly desirable
