Adaptive PE Teacher in Springfield, MA

Embrace a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) specialist, supporting middle school students district-wide in the vibrant Springfield, MA area. For the 2026/2027 school year, this contract role offers the chance to deliver both direct services and consultative support to empower students who require adapted PE, all within a flexible part-time schedule of approximately 2-2.5 days per week.

Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Valid Adaptive Physical Education certification/licensure (where applicable)
• Demonstrated experience working in school settings, ideally with middle school populations
• Expertise in supporting students with disabilities in adaptive PE environments
• Excellent communication, collaboration, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to travel between district middle school campuses with reliable transportation
• Promptness and professionalism, including clear procedures for absence notification
• Successful background/CORI check, fingerprinting, and drug screening

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide adaptive physical education services to a selected caseload of middle school students
• Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student progress
• Adapt and develop meaningful PE activities and curricula to foster inclusion and engagement
• Monitor and document student development, updating plans as needed
• Travel throughout the district delivering services and building connections across campuses
