Position: Student Success Interventionist (2 positions)

The Student Success Interventionist (SSI) is responsible and accountable for maintaining and monitoring a disciplined environment conducive to learning in the school. The SSI effectively communicates with students and motivates them to meet the school’s standards of behavior. The SSI works with the Director of Operations, Paraprofessionals, the School Director, the School Administration Team, and Academic Staff. The SSI ensures the schools philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and observed.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Behavior Management
  • Works closely with teachers to follow-up with students on day-to-day behavioral issues;
  • Studies behavior for patterns of misbehavior and coordinates appropriate actions as needed with the school Principals;
  • Models calm behavior. Fostering a calm attitude with students is to engage in this behavior yourself;
  • Supports and provides accommodations in class to lessen frustration and increase academic confidence in an academically frustrated student;
Motivating & Communicating with Students
  • Effectively communicates with students (meets, listens, seeks to understand, convinces), winning them over and developing a support network;
  • Effectively motivates, encourages, and inspires students to meet the school’s standards of behavior;
  • Sets high expectations and standards of responsibility;
  • Encourages self-discipline;
  • Offers guidance and uses praise and reprimand appropriately;
  • Involves students in developing their skills in order to become a positive behavior role model for other students to emulate
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (continued) Prevention
  • Clearly communicates behavior expectations to students, teachers, and staff;
  • Takes necessary preventative action to maintain a disciplined environment conducive to learning;
  • Assigns proper supervision to problem areas within the school;
  • Establishes a plan to detect and deal with potential aggression in coordination with the School Principals and School Director;
  • Stays well-informed about current events and activities in the school.
Monitoring
  • Effectively oversees and utilizes school systems and tools to monitor student behavior;
  • Consistently monitors student behavior, both in- and out-of-class;
  • Effectively plans and oversees out-of-class supervision.
Intervention
  • Effectively intervenes to reward positive behavior and discouraging inappropriate behavior, or affect a change or correction in a behavior;
  • Appropriately uses different types of intervention (reinforcement, consequences, reminders) in line with school philosophy and policies to help maintain a disciplined environment within the school;
  • Appropriately uses advising and counseling as an integral part of any intervention;
Documentation
  • Effectively implements and uses school systems and tools to document student behavior and to maintain students records and data in an accurate, confidential, and secure manner;
  • Ensures appropriate records are retained of written communications with parents including any other student behavior-related documentation.
Internal Relationships
  • Works closely and effectively with the students, Principals, teachers, School Director, and Director of Operations to establish, maintain, and monitor a disciplined environment conducive to learning.
Internal Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensures the proper implementation of student management systems and policies;
  • Maintains a professional image;
  • Meets expectations of regular, reliable attendance.

Other duties as needed:
Any other duties and tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by the supervisor
