Elementary Math Teacher (Grade
5)
Location:
Dorman Elementary School, Springfield, Massachusetts
Starting Date: Immediately
Responsibilities- Meet and instruct assigned classes as designated.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of district curriculum goals.
- Prepare for assigned classes; provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
- Assess student accomplishments; provide progress reports; communicate with parents as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, complete records per law, policy, and regulations.
- Diagnose student learning challenges; seek assistance from specialists.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Follow the SPS code of conduct; develop and enforce fair classroom behavior rules.
- Plan and supervise paraprofessional assignments; make written evaluations.
- Maintain ongoing professional growth meeting district requirements.
- Participate in teacher evaluation process and mutual agreements on results.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication.
- Attend traditional school‑sponsored activities such as Back to School Night and Open House.
- Contribute to decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well‑being.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in mathematics.
- Licensed educator with a Mathematics content‑area license and grade‑level 1–6 licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with the appropriate license; a Master’s Degree is preferred or expected within five years.
Salary: $54,541.40 to $88,258.60 annually.
