Position Overview

Middle School LLD (Summer 2026) Program (contingent on enrollment, funding, and programming)

Salary: $50.00/hour for student work; $29.10 prep time
Work schedule:
July 6, 2026 – July 30, 2026, from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm (or 7:30 am to 2:00 pm on specified days)
Mandatory training with Summer Coordinator and staff meetings as scheduled by the Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities- Report to the Head Teacher, Special Education Supervisor, and the Principal
- Maintain student attendance records and follow up on absenteeism
- Provide timely information to families and students
- Prevent regression through instruction in academic, gross motor, and social skills as outlined in students’ IEPs
- Teach assigned classes in designated locations and times
- Handle office and clerical duties for the Extended Year Program
- Communicate student attendance and skill retention to students’ 2024‑2025 schools
- Feed, diaper (if needed), and assist with personal hygiene as appropriate
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Teacher of the summer program
- Preference for teachers currently employed in the Life Skills Program in Springfield Public Schools
- Ability to modify curriculum and accommodate students as needed
- Experience in implementing students’ IEPs to meet individual needs
- Ability to manage classroom staff and collaborate with other professionals for a quality educational experience
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and staff pool
