Location:

Springfield, Massachusetts. School: ZANETTI K‑8 (Springfield Public Schools)

Roles and responsibilities include:

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of district curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request, as required by the teachers’ contract.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students or groups.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
• Assesses student achievements regularly, provides progress reports as required, and communicates with parents when necessary.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Diagnoses learning challenges of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
• Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Follows the SPS code of conduct, developing classroom rules that are enforced fairly and justly.
• Plans and supervises assignments for paraprofessionals and makes written evaluations as required.
• Maintains a professional growth program satisfying district requirements and personal professional expectations.
• Takes an active part in the teacher evaluation process, contributing to a mutually agreed evaluation outcome.
• Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and decision making among staff during the extended day.
• Attends traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g., Back to School Night, Open House, programs, activities) as agreed by the building administrator and faculty.
• Contributes to district and building decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well‑being.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Appropriate elementary educator license and grade‑level (1‑6) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Bachelor’s degree with appropriate license.
• Master’s degree preferred and/or expected within 5 years, with appropriate content‑area license.

• Position Type: Full‑Time – School Year
• Salary: $54,541 to $88,258 (Base Unincorporated Salary Schedule)
