JOB GOAL:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes as designated.
- Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
- Guide learning toward achievement of district curriculum goals; establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location limitations and student capabilities.
- Implement district philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly; provide progress reports as required; communicate with parents as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
- Diagnose learning challenges regularly and seek assistance from district specialists when needed.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Follow the school code of conduct; develop and enforce classroom behavior rules fairly.
- Plan and supervise assignments for paraprofessionals; provide written evaluations as required.
- Engage in professional growth that satisfies district and personal development expectations.
- Participate in the teacher evaluation process and contribute to agreements on evaluation results.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and decision making.
- Participate in school-sponsored activities per contract.
- Contribute to district decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well‑being.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of recent full‑time employment experience directly related to trade shop and state trade/union license.
- Passing score of at least 70% on the written and performance tests for Licensure.
- Passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy (VTLST) and the Communication and Literacy Skills Test (Programming & Web Development 9-12) as required by Massachusetts Department of Education.

Salary: $54,547 to $88,135, BU Salary Schedule
