Position Overview

The Editorial Assistant supports the Monan Professor and the Department of Faculty Services at Boston College Law School by providing editorial and research services for books, scholarly articles, and other publications. The role includes responding to inquiries, arranging conferences, assisting with committee meetings, and coordinating research assistants.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule meetings, record minutes, and handle market research for the Monan Chair.
  • Assist with drafting and editing manuscripts, articles, and presentations for the professor and for law school faculty.
  • Provide editorial and proof‑reading support for assignments, exams, and faculty publications.
  • Manage source collection and citation review according to Bluebook or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Assist faculty services with training and supervising student research assistants.
  • Coordinate and track editorial services, maintain editorial calendars, and report to senior management.
  • Support law school events, examine proctoring duties, and submit grades for journal application materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, creative writing, communications or a related field.
  • Three to five years of editing or journalism experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong word‑processing skills.
  • Excellent reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and safeguard confidential information.
Compensation & Location

Grade: 2ND | Salary range: $27.48 – $34.34 per hour. In‑person position at Boston College’s Newton Campus requires regular attendance.
