Starting Date: Immediately
Salary: $54,541.40 to $88,258.60 (BU Salary Schedule)
Duties- Meet and instruct assigned classes as scheduled.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Guide the learning process toward district curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units and projects.
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location and student capabilities.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, objectives, and performance expectations.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law, policy, and regulations.
- Diagnose learning challenges, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Follow the SPS code of conduct and develop fair and just classroom behavior rules.
- Plan and supervise paraprofessional assignments and provide written evaluations.
- Maintain a professional growth program satisfying district requirements and personal expectations.
- Participate in the teacher evaluation process, contributing to a mutually agreed outcome.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and decision‑making.
- Attend traditional school‑sponsored activities (Back‑to‑School Night, Open House, etc.) as agreed in the contract.
- Contribute to district and building decisions concerning budget, facilities, curriculum, and well‑being.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified and competent in the content area.
- Appropriate content or program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade‑level (PreK‑8) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license, or
- Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and expected within 5 years.
