About the Role:The Adjunct Faculty position in Occupational Therapy is designed to contribute to the academic and professional development of students pursuing careers in occupational therapy. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction, fostering critical thinking, and integrating evidence-based practices into the curriculum. The faculty member will collaborate with colleagues to develop course materials that reflect current trends and standards in occupational therapy. Additionally, the role includes mentoring students, evaluating their progress, and supporting their clinical skill development.
Ultimately, the position aims to prepare competent, compassionate, and skilled occupational therapy practitioners who can meet diverse client needs in various healthcare settings.
- A master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the United States.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical occupational therapy practice in pediatrics and/or neurololgy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
- A doctoral degree (e.g., OTD, PhD) in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience in higher education or professional training settings.
- Experience with curriculum development and academic program assessment.
- Familiarity with online and hybrid teaching modalities and educational technologies.
- Active involvement in occupational therapy research or professional organizations.
- Experience supervising student fieldwork or clinical internships.
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive lectures and practical sessions in occupational therapy courses.
- Develop, update, and implement course syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools aligned with accreditation standards.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their professional growth and clinical competencies.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical evaluations, providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to ensure curriculum relevance and facilitate student fieldwork placements.
The required and preferred skills are essential for delivering effective instruction and fostering a dynamic learning environment. Strong communication skills enable clear presentation of complex concepts and facilitate meaningful interactions with students. Clinical expertise ensures that teaching is grounded in real-world practice, enhancing student readiness for professional roles. Skills in curriculum development and assessment support continuous improvement of educational programs to meet accreditation and industry standards.
Additionally, proficiency with educational technologies and online teaching platforms allows for flexible and accessible learning experiences, accommodating diverse student needs.
